Holly's Heroes : Home court advantageMaterialDela
  1. We've won the qualifier. We're on
the way to be the best in the State.

  2. We've got a lot of hard work ahead
of us, and some serious sweat.

  3. Come on, Waka Toa. Who are we?

  4. Waka Toa!

  5. -Waka Toa?
-I thought we were the Outlaws.

  6. Waka Toa was my team
    in New Zealand.

  7. I've included some ideas
and fitness tips in our schedule.

  8. -Fitness tips?
    -Yep. Any questions?

  9. -Where's Nick?
    -Probably doing graffiti.

  10. Or stealing a car.

  11. You wouldn't want to be
    my getaway driver, would you?

  12. -Joke.
    -Cardio, endurance, strength, skills.

  13. -I'll see you at the beach.
    -The beach?

  14. I haven't had enough time to book
the gym yet. Who do I ask about that?

  15. I'd love to help
but all these slots are booked.

  16. -The Rams are a dedicated outfit.
    -What about a different time?

  17. Let's see. Since Nick burned down
    the community centre-

  18. -everyone wants to use the gym.

  19. -There must be a space somewhere.
-Here we go. 6:30 am Wednesday.

  20. -6:30? In the morning?
-Of course, if you're not serious...

  21. It's perfect.

  22. -Where are you off to?
    -Advanced maths.

  23. -I didn't know you were a "brain".
-I'm not. I just enjoy it.

  24. No wonder you don't play basketball.
    Geometry gets your adrenaline going.

  25. -How's the team going?
    -Great. Except...

  26. ...I had to book the court at night.

  27. The Rams nabbed the practice times.

  28. -Every night after school.
    -Strange.

  29. -Anyway. See you.
    -Here she comes...

  30. -How was the movie?
    -I might go next week.

  31. -Hi. How's it going?
    -Hi, Trish. It's going well.

  32. Scubi, aren't you going to say "hi"
    to Holly?

  33. -Hi, Holly.
-Don't mind her, she's always grumpy.

  34. -Isn't that right, Scoob?
    -I guess.

  35. -Excited we're in the same league?
    -Yeah. It's fantastic.

  36. Anyway, better go.
    Nice talking to you, Holly.

  37. Weird.

  38. -What's going on?
-Trish being nice to the "kiwi".

  39. It's all part of the plan. We don't
want the Outlaws in the competition.

  40. -We'll hit where it hurts.
-Holly. We know where she lives.

  41. -The other slots are filled up.
-Isn't there somewhere else to train?

  42. We're a proper team.
    We need proper courts.

  43. As if the Tai Chi club needs
    a basketball court. What?

  44. I signed up for Tai-Chi.
I'll try and organize another venue.

  45. -I thought you were taking time off.
    -I am.

  46. I haven't organized one event
    since we left Wellington.

  47. -I'm going to organize a book club.
    -What happened to:

  48. "All I'm going to do in Woolich
is lie around in the sun"?

  49. Holly, how many days in a row
have you worn that Waka top?

  50. -Do weekends count?
    -In the dirty-washing basket. Now!

  51. No correspondence
    will be entered into.

  52. Mum! Mum!

  53. -Holly. This one's harmless.
    -This one?

  54. Holly! The singlet!

  55. -Stop! Holly!
    -Holly, slow down!

  56. Come on, Holly. How much longer?

  57. Come on, guys. Almost there.

  58. 20 seconds
before we get stuck into push-ups.

  59. -I thought we were having a break.
-This is it. Come on, you can do it.

  60. Let's go! One! Two! Three! Four!

  61. Isn't basketball training
    meant to involve a ball?

  62. -We must be getting to that bit soon.
    -...nine, ten.

  63. Come on, guys. Let's go for it.

  64. Ralph! If I don't make it,
could you tell my mum I love her?

  65. Johnno's down! Medic! He's
    heading for cardio-pulmonary arrest.

  66. -See? I told you it'd be fun.
-Is that what you call it?

  67. If we don't work harder,
    we'll never improve.

  68. -We need to be committed, team.
    -One of us should be.

  69. Hi. Come on. We're all set up.

  70. -Don't you get sick of being whipped?
    -I guess.

  71. -Where's your fighting spirit?
-Grandad? Do you think I'm cool?

  72. What's cooler than playing chess
    with an old fossil?

  73. That's the problem. I really enjoy
playing chess, and I like studying-

  74. -but people might think
    I'm nerdy and boring.

  75. -Holly, for example.
    -The basketballer.

  76. She's only been in town a while
and she's already got her own team.

  77. -She's got friends everywhere.
-Doesn't mean you can't be one.

  78. -I might be too boring for her.
-Thought you said she was smart.

  79. Then it won't take her long
to realise who's cool and who isn't.

  80. -Come on, guys!
    -Holly, you're killing us.

  81. -Come on, guys. It wasn't that bad.
-I forgot. I love being in pain.

  82. When do we get to play on a court?

  83. Stay positive. Maybe they'll buy it.

  84. -Wednesday. 6:30 sharp.
    -After dinner?

  85. No, before breakfast. It's a great
    time to train. No disruptions...

  86. -...fresh legs, birds chirping.
    -6:30 in the morning?

  87. It was the only time I could get.

  88. We need to practice
on our home court. Inside, on wood.

  89. In Waka Toa, we said,
"A fit team is a winning team."

  90. We say,
"A dead team is a dead team."

  91. -How did Nick get out of this?
    -Yeah!

  92. We missed you at training today.

  93. Let me see.
    You were abducted by aliens...

  94. -...and they vaporised your shoes.
    -How'd you guess?

  95. -What happened?
-Said I'd play. Never said I'd train.

  96. How can you be part of a team
and not train? Come on, Nick.

  97. I've booked the court,
and we really need you there.

  98. Okay. What time?

  99. 6:30...a.m.

  100. What idiot organizes a training
session at 6:30 in the morning?

  101. Everybody will be there.

  102. If you were taking this seriously,
    you'd be there, too.

  103. Okay, three days in a row.
    Choice. She'll never know.

  104. -Have you got it?
    -Oh, give it here!

  105. -Did you see the game on TV?
    -It was awesome.

  106. Rebounds were up 3 a quarter.
    Perimeter shots down by 32%...

  107. -...a 39% hike in turnovers.
    -Catch you later.

  108. -What happened?
-They put a snake in my locker.

  109. Why are they so horrible?
    I haven't even done anything.

  110. Yes, you have.
    You set up the Outlaws.

  111. Patricia and Eleanor
    don't know better.

  112. -Scubi's name is Eleanor?
    -She's sensitive about it.

  113. -What did the snake look like?
    -Brown and patterned.

  114. -They can kill you in 60 seconds!
    -Really?

  115. No. They're perfectly harmless.

  116. -I thought she was going to scream.
-We should've used a live snake.

  117. Maybe next time.

  118. Or maybe we should start from
the bottom and work our way up.

  119. -Looking good there, Ralphie.
-If we'd known how good you were...

  120. ...we wouldn't have let you leave
    the Rams.

  121. Coach was just saying yesterday
how hard it's been to replace you.

  122. -He didn't say that.
    -He did.

  123. Come on, Scoob.
You're giving him a big head.

  124. -So, how's school?
    -It was okay, Dad.

  125. Pass me your rod.

  126. How come you're so cool
    with all this stuff?

  127. I heard you had a face to fang
    with a big, bad spider.

  128. You know that huntsmen spiders
    are harmless?

  129. More than I can say for some
    of the creatures around here.

  130. Half this country's wildlife
    is meant to kill you.

  131. How am I supposed to know
    what's lethal or what's not?

  132. You need to adjust
    to your environment.

  133. Let me introduce you
    to Aporrectodea caliginosa.

  134. It's one Australian you don't need
to be afraid of. Hold out your hand.

  135. Hold out your hand. Come on.

  136. It probably secretes poison
    through its skin.

  137. You seem to be surviving.

  138. Yeah. I am.

  139. Okay, Holly.
Wait for it. Wait for it.

  140. Here we go. Official home-court
    training number one.

  141. -Em…
    -Hi.

  142. -Where's Johnno?
-He asked me to say he's not coming.

  143. -Why not?
    -It's too early.

  144. -What about the others?
    -They can't make it either.

  145. -We have to practice on our own.
    -I'm going home.

  146. -But you're already here.
    -We're having pancakes.

  147. You can come too, if you want.

  148. Or not.

  149. -Come on. Ten bucks for two.
    -This one's broken.

  150. -That's why it's half price.
    -No way.

  151. -Let's go.
    -So, what happened this morning?

  152. -Gee, I must have slept in.
    -Yeah, me too.

  153. -It was early.
-I heard it was still dark.

  154. But not too early to eat pancakes?

  155. I thought long and hard about
    the training vs. pancake situation.

  156. Training - pancakes.
    Weirdly, pancakes won.

  157. If we want to beat the Rams,
    we have to train harder.

  158. -You won't improve 2 on 2.
    -We'll have fun.

  159. -We had fun on the beach.
-No, you were acting like Peterson.

  160. If we wanted to train this hard,
we would have joined the Army.

  161. That's it. Come on, Rams. Pick it up.

  162. I want 100% effort.
We have to be committed, team.

  163. -Don't tell me you're stealing tips.
    -I've turned into your father.

  164. A slave-driving, no-fun coach?
I guess training didn't go well.

  165. -It didn't go at all. No one showed.
    -What's wrong with them?

  166. -They think I'm a drill sergeant.
-Holly, you can make it work.

  167. You just need training
    that's right for your team.

  168. I'm not sure
I even have a team anymore.

  169. I might have made a mistake
    leaving the Rams.

  170. What are you talking about? You
spent the whole time on the bench.

  171. Maybe if I'd stuck it out,
I'd be getting more court time now.

  172. Holly's training was torture.
You're better off with the Outlaws.

  173. -Ralphie. Guess what?
-Peterson said he can't find a sub.

  174. -He might have to look elsewhere.
-Trish said he should ask you back.

  175. -What did he say?
    -He'd think about it.

  176. Hear that, Johnno?
I'm going to talk to him.

  177. As your future agent, I want to say
I don't think this is a good idea.

  178. But it sure would be good
to wear my old Rams singlet again.

  179. -Yes?
-Dad, can I ask you something?

  180. Yes, but make it snappy.

  181. You'll probably say no,
but I feel strongly about this.

  182. -Mr. Peterson?
    -What is it, Ralph?

  183. I want to come back to the Rams.

  184. -I thought you're looking for a sub.
    -No. Even if I was...

  185. ...your name would be on the bottom
    of the list.

  186. You were part of the finest team
    in the district-

  187. -but instead of showing commitment,
you went off with the troublemakers.

  188. -What was it you wanted?
-I'm setting up a chess club.

  189. I was wondering if I could book
a slot in the gym one afternoon.

  190. -Why do you need the whole gym?
-Heaps of people want to join.

  191. I like to keep these sessions free
in case your brother needs training.

  192. -Dad, he never does.
    -All right. All right.

  193. Thanks, Dad.

  194. Careful. There might
    be something in there.

  195. Shouldn't you practice
    with the Outlaws?

  196. -Why do you care?
-Are you still playing with them?

  197. It's good you're still into basket-
ball. Try out for the Rams sometime.

  198. -I'd rather chew off my arm.
    -Stick with the losers then.

  199. That way I get to play against you.

  200. Tell me some good news. Anything.
I need some serious cheering up.

  201. I'm setting up a chess club.

  202. Chess?

  203. -Don't worry about it, R.J.
-How did your chat go with the coach?

  204. I can't believe you asked Peterson
to let you back in the Rams.

  205. Like he would take you back.

  206. -Now you don't have a team at all.
    -The "Outlames" won't want you.

  207. Patricia...and Eleanor.

  208. -The last person that called me that…
    -Did what, Eleanor?

  209. -Ralphie's gone. Who's next?
-He's too good for the Rams.

  210. It's up to him, but there's always
a spot for him on the Outlaws.

  211. What's that? The sound of two girls
that can't think of a comeback?

  212. -Come on...
    -Bye, Eleanor.

  213. Thanks.

  214. I'm sorry I acted like Peterson.
Things will be different. I promise.

  215. That's if you still want to be
    on the team.

  216. -Yep, positive.
    -For sure.

  217. Definitely.

  218. I think that you and the pancakes
    can come to an agreement.

  219. Training's going to be different.

  220. Welcome to the
    Woolich High School Chess Club.

  221. -This is my grandfather, Max.
-Hi. Jacinta talks about you a lot.

  222. I've heard quite a bit about you,
    too.

  223. Let's kick off "Chess Club"
    with a time limit game?

  224. Only 60 seconds
    before you clock your move.

  225. You fell for it! What I meant was,
who's up for a shooting competition?

  226. -We'll need a lookout.
    -It's always me.

  227. -This was such a cool idea.
    -I know.

  228. -You see the look on Ralph's face?
    -Priceless.

  229. -What's this?
    -I don't know.

  230. But I can hear basketballs.

  231. -Those Outlaws are up to something.
    -Let's check it out.

  232. Trish and Scubi!

  233. Welcome to the chess club.
    There's a spare board here.

  234. -Don't be shy. Join us.
    -Be lovely if you could.

  235. -We've got…
    -Some homework to do.

  236. Here's to a game of strategy.

  237. I heard there was a game of chess
    on offer. I couldn't resist.

  238. I solved that snake problem
    for you as well.

  239. When playing away from home, it pays
    to understand the local environment.

  240. To work out which of the animals are
    friendly, and which are dangerous.
